Welcome Rooms & Food Tariff & Info About West Manse Getting Here Around & About

Rooms......

Both our bedrooms have lovely views - either into the adjacent woodland or over the garden and beyond into the rolling countryside. The bedrooms have been decorated and simply furnished to reflect the age of the house. Both have very comfortable king-size beds,  Egyptian cotton bedlinen, choice of pillows,  plenty of storage, cosy bathrobes, hairdryers and ipod/iphone docks.   There are no TV’s in the bedrooms, but we have plenty of books if you’d like to borrow one and there is a TV in the guest lounge that you are unlikely to have competition for.

Morrison  has  a spacious en-suite shower room whilst Ker has an adjacent private bathroom (with  double-ended roll top bath and separate shower).  Both have excellent showers with gallons of hot water, plenty of fluffy white towels, shaver/toothbrush sockets, Highland Soap Co soaps and lots of little extras you may find useful.

Laundry, ironing and shoe cleaning facilities etc, are all available - just ask.

...and Food

We like to think that our food is a balance between the very wholesome and the rather wicked!  Lots of fresh seasonal vegetables, salads, herbs and fruit are used - some we grow ourselves.  We get fresh fish from Buckie and use locally sourced poultry, meat and game  whenever possible.  When chanterelles and blackberries are in season - we forage!

Breakfast is served around the dining room table (with an outstanding view of feeding birds!) 8am and 9.30 - or earlier  if required.   Eggs are from our six hens, all marmalades and jams are made by Chris, and most of the bread and rolls served - we bake ourselves.  Our breakfast menu is below - but we are always open to suggestions!

Generous packed lunches can be provided for £5/head.

Dinner with your hosts can be provided by prior arrangement, for between £10 to £15/person. It is a set menu of either two or three courses - but always ending with a naughty pudding!  See sample menu below.

We are more than happy to cater for special dietary requirements - but please let us know when booking.

Hot drinks, biscuits, homebakes and fruit are available to help yourself to, 24 hrs a day,  from the table in the hall.

Please note that we cannot supply alcohol - but you are welcome to bring your own wine or nightcap and we’ll chill it and provide the glasses!

Downstairs is a cosy lounge available for  guests to use throughout the day and evening. There is a chest full of games, jigsaws, hundreds of books, local information, a shelf of DVD’s, a Smart TV,  a view of a bird feeder and a woodburning stove for when it gets cooler. Or you could spend time in the conservatory - not a huge room but south facing - so a real sun trap.  Venture further into the garden and you’ll find lots to look at and several places to sit and unwind.

We can loan you maps, a rucksack, walking sticks/poles and walking guides if you’d like to go walking. If you are a cyclist , we can provide secure storage for your bike, somewhere for you to do repairs/maintenance and drying facilities.  Likewise for golfers, anglers and walkers - there is plenty of space for you to clean and store your equipment, dry  your gear - we will even freeze your catch!
